- We've been using 40 PM288MT II v.34s in our modem pool and have had
- terrible luck with them. We've sent 25% of them back after they went
- completely dead. We were using the 1.60 ROM and upgraded to the 1.63
- ROM. We still get the modem lockups you mentioned even with the new
- ROM. The problem does seem to have become less severe after we sent
- back the latest group so perhaps we weeded out some bad modems? I
- don't know. I've only had two lockups this week but tonight three of
- them may decide to go. I never know.
-
- The Practical Peripherals support guys have never provided any
- information to help us figure out what's going on other than sending
- me the box of ROMs. I don't know for sure that it's their problem but
- I know many other ISPs using other equipment who report no problems
- like ours so I don't think it is our customer's equipment. I have a
- Hayes Century 16 rack on order and will see if it performs better.
